Watch out for
Weight Watchers Med+ is a membership, and the GLP-1 is a second bill. (1) THE $74 IS A 12-MONTH COMMITMENT THAT RENEWS FOR ANOTHER 12. The headline $25 is the first month only; after it the membership is $74 a month on the 12-month plan or $84 on the 6-month plan "for the remainder of your applicable plan term", and plans "auto-renew for another 12-month or 6-month period at the same monthly rate". The WW Clinic Membership Agreement says the fee is "not refundable or cancellable once a ... commitment period ... has started" and that if you terminate you "must pay the applicable monthly subscription fee until the end of the commitment plan period". (2) SEVERAL STARTING PRICES ARE INTRODUCTORY. Foundayo, the Wegovy pill and the Ozempic pill start at $149 a month at the starting dose and go up to $299. Wegovy and Ozempic pens show "starting at $199", which a footnote limits to the first two fills at the two lowest doses for new patients; after that Wegovy is $349 ($399 at 7.2 mg) and Ozempic $349 or $499. Zepbound is $299 to $449 a month, but $599 to $1,049 at the higher doses if a refill comes more than 45 days after the last delivery. No page adds membership and medication together: the cheapest ongoing month is about $223, our sum. (3) THE BBB RECORD. BBB rates the WW headquarters profile C-, not accredited, citing 21 complaints that were not resolved, and says it publishes one in five complaints because of their volume. The profile covers all of WeightWatchers, not only Med+. Trustpilot shows 4.1 from 5,128 reviews for weightwatchers.com, also company-wide. (4) NO STATE LIST. We found no list of the states where Med+ clinicians prescribe. (5) THE OUTCOME FIGURES ARE WW'S OWN. The page leads with 44.5 lbs (19.4% of body weight) at 12 months from an observational study of Med+ member data, and with a figure from an internal analysis it calls "Not a randomized, controlled clinical trial"; another study it cites was funded by WW International. WHAT WE CHECKED AND FOUND CLEAN: Med+ prescribes only brand-name, FDA-approved medications, names its medical groups in its Membership Agreement and its pharmacies on each medication page, and publishes a Notice of Privacy Practices. No. Its Med+ page says its clinicians "only prescribe real, brand-name medication" and lists "No compounds". The medications offered are Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound and Foundayo, as pens or pills, plus Saxenda through insurance.
Can I cancel Weight Watchers Med+?
You can stop it renewing, but not end a plan early without paying for it. The WW Clinic Membership Agreement says the fee is not refundable or cancellable once a commitment period has started, and that if you terminate you must pay the monthly fee until the end of the commitment period. Plans renew automatically for another 12 or 6 months unless you cancel before the term ends.
